TEEN POETRY CONTEST GUIDELINES

Submit up to three poems to molly.saunders@mymanatee.org by April 10, 2022.

Select poems will be published in a special issue of 805 (805lit.org), and three winners will receive personalized feedback on their poems from Hannah Aizenman, the Poetry Coordinator at The New Yorker.

 

All entrants will be honored at a special reading at Braden River Branch Library on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 3 - 4 p.m.

 

Poets must be between 13 and 18 years old and reside in Manatee or Sarasota counties (Florida). Submissions must include the poet’s name, age, school, and a contact phone number and email address.

TEEN POETRY ISSUE PUBLICATION TERMS

By submitting to the Braden River Library Teen Poetry Contest, I acknowledge that my work(s) may be chosen for publication in a special teen poetry issue of 805.

 

I confirm that the work(s) submitted is original and of my composition. I grant 805 first world electronic reprint rights to publish the work(s) online in a digital format, and first US print rights to publish the work(s) in a print version of the issue. I grant permission for the work(s) to remain indefinitely on 805’s website, the Manatee County Public Library System (MCPLS) website, OverDrive ebooks website, social media, and any other digital archive 805 or the library may use.   

 

I grant 805 the right to use my work in promotional materials including but not limited to print and digital ads, bookmarks, posters, flyers, business cards, and email newsletters. I acknowledge that 805 gives permission for the issue containing my work(s) to be freely distributed for educational purposes and printed by individuals.

 

I acknowledge that 805 does not monetarily compensate contributors for their work(s). I agree to any and all editorial alterations and abridgments including, but not limited to, re-formatting, grammatical correction, and cropping.
